大分弁では「とびうお」とか「とび」とか呼んだりです。旨さは？です。食べたことない！トビウオは結構種類があるので、しっかり見ないと種類が分かりません。この写真は市場で撮ったので、触れなかった･･無念！
産卵期は春で４月頃のトビウオの塩焼きが旨いらしい。トビウオは時速70kmで海面近くを泳ぎ、尾びれで海面を叩きジャンプし150mぐらい飛ぶらしいが、500m位飛ぶこともある。トビウオ科の特徴は二つに分かれた尾びれの下の方が長いことがある。これも水面を叩いて飛びやすくするためか。
It is difficult to distinguish species of Tobiuo. I could not identify this. Spawning season is spring. Grilled tobiuo is very delicious in April.
It swim 70km/hour and fly about 150m long, sometimes 500m. Taking off, It hit the surface of sea by caudal fin. Lower lobe of caudal fin is longer. I think it is good to fly.(Summer '96 Hiji)
