08840 マナガツオ(Managatsuo) Pampus argenteus

　見た感じは下のイボダイを大きくした感じを想像するといい。そしてなんとこの魚は腹びれがない。カツオと名前があるが見たとおり全くにていない。味がカツオに似ているという説や初鰹の時期に取れるからと言う説も見かける。

　イボダイもそうだが新鮮なら刺身で食べるのが地元の強みといえる。味噌漬けもいいらしいが喰ったことない。味はとしたい。（実は最近食べた記憶がない！？）産卵期は初夏から夏で、6〜7月に産卵のため内湾を回遊し、秋に沖合へ出ていく。体長は30cmから成長すると60cm程度になる。

"Managatsuo" looks like a Ibodai Psenopsis anomala, But It is bigger and have no pectoral fin. "Gatsuo" and "Katsuo" is same meanings in Japanese. Katsuo means tuna, but It is not tuna fish. Someone said "We see there in the same season.", Other said "Managatsuo taste tuna.". We can eat fresh one. Grilled with miso, It is .

Spawning season is between early summer through autumn. They migrate for breeding in the gulf sea between on June and July and go to oceans on autumn. Body length of adult fish are 30cm, and big one is about 60cm. (May 12 '97 Photoed in Oita)
