全くのところ、なんの変哲もないつまらない魚ですが、大分弁では「いしもちじゃこ」とか「かぶとじゃこ」と呼ばれるらしいが、あまり聞いたことがない。（ちなみに焼津では「金魚」というらしい。この方がわかりやすい。森田さんありがと）ダイビングするとごく普通にみる。類似種にテンジクダイがあり、どちらもテンジクダイ科です。卵を口に入れ保護するという。特徴は目のあたりの黒い線と尾鰭のあたりの黒い点です。体長12cm、内湾の水深100ｍまでに棲み、日本南部、中国、フィリピンに分布。
We can see the fish often in diving. The fish have egg in the mouth for protection. Identifying marks are black lines by the eyes and black points on the caudal fin. Body length of adult is about 12 cm, There are in 100m deep of southern pert of Japan, Chine and Philippine. (Mar. 11 '96 Sunshine International Aquarium)
