| It was over five years ago that the Nobeoka Philharmonic Orchestra requested me to create an original piece. If my memory serves me correctly, it was also my first meeting with its music director, Mr. Tatsumi Kabayama. He asked me to arrange some folk songs for its annual Family Concert. We also agreed to make an original piece for the orchestra.
I was doing some research on theology and music (Japanese traditional sacred dance music) and had composed several pieces from my image created by the research. We usually have two ways to compose on the source like this. The first way is to arrange the original into a new piece. The second way is to create our own based on the image created from the original. I composed this piece through the second way. I portrayed my image of God throughout this piece. I would like to create a scene in music where people dance with God and then get together spiritually.
It was not easy for me to reach the height of my creativity without demanding superior technique from the orchestra. I hope my piece, Illusion Far Beyond, will give you a realistic image and feeling of a Japanese traditional sacred dance..
In conclusion, I would like to people that have made this concert possible. Thank you.
