July 31: Excelsio Quartet@@@by Mie
In JR Yufuin station gallery, a free concert is often held in order to make classical music more popular to the people. Ms. Aya Fujise, one of the staff, plays an organ in front of a modern art picture. Mr. Masakuni Kato stands by. She used to be a PR member of Cazars Hall in Tokyo. She has been a volunteer staff of YMF more than three years.
An unusual coach tour starts from the station. We had a big earthquake that directly hit Yufuin, destroying most townships. Some of the town leaders managed to revitalize the town. The coach tour is one of the products together with our YMF.
A young promising group Excelsio performed wonderful programs. Audience even forgot to applause for a moment after the final sound.
Mr. Ohtomo, cello player, smiles at the welcome by Mr. Kouno, the music director, and by Mr. Yawara Watanabe, a music journalist. Click the picture to enlarge.
As I had a little time by the start of night concert, I visited Kotokoto-ya tearoom for money checking. After that, we returned to Kanakana-tei to take a short rest. I couldn't stop laughing by Ms. Takei's funny talks as usual.
I returned to the communication hall. There are always beautiful flower arrangements like this in the lobby, thanks to Ms. Fujimoto (left) and Ms. Shigematsu.

The evening concert is "Yufuin Summer Ensemble."
Miss Mie Kobayashi (violin) plays wonderful musics in well-modulated tones. I was presented a CD from her on which she put her autograph. This is a nice souvenir for me this time.
Miss Junko Ohmori visited twice Yufuin by this time. She had a recital in Musouen hotel. Her soft violin is really touching.
