CERAMICS
Creation, to leave a trace of one's passage on earth has been
one of the oldest human dream. But what of the use of clay to
do so?
Fascinating personal means of creation such is the making of
pottery. From the intimate moment of kneading to evacuate all
air to the shaping, through to glazing and firing and the waited
moment of uncovering the unespected results of the marriage of
matter and fire.

A potter's workshop.
The most gratifying moment is without a doubt the appreciation
of others concretized in the purchase.
Japanese ceramics are enriched by a long history and various
foreign influences, it caters for all tastes.
I have a particular liking for a small village in the mountains
of the island of Kyushu.
It lives for and of pottery only. Its tradition goes
back more than 300 years. The originals potters came from Korea
and they still work mostly like in the old days.

Studying .
They assume every step of the making from the extraction of
the earth and its preparation to become the clay for shaping (work
of the women helped by the borrowed strengh of the running stream)
to the making of the form, the glazing, the firing.
The transmission is from father to son with no disciple accepted
whatsoever.

The firing is done in the ascending kiln called "noborigama"
using wood only. We make ceramics for ourselves, friends and relatives
often for the way of tea that is also one of our activities.
